Glacier Cruise into Prince William Sound from Whittier
Anchorage, Girdwood, Whittier & Valdez
ALASKA
This glacier and wildlife cruise through Prince William Sound features a visit to Columbia Glacier. Onboard you will have a chance to view the Sound’s wildlife, including sea lions, sea otters, and whales. You will learn about mining, oil shipping, earthquake, and fishing history, and you will hear stories about the first people to explore and live in the area. This tour includes a description of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline Terminal as you sail past. Because the Columbia Glacier is the fastest-moving glacier in Alaska, it releases tons of ice into the ocean every day. Typically, your ship will not be able to navigate to the face of the glacier. Instead, you will cruise through Columbia Bay around massive icebergs.
