Just 57 miles from Boston, Sandwich is the oldest and of the most picturesque towns on Cape Cod. The town boasts beautiful old homes, some of which have been converted to inns, charming shops and restaurants.
As the Cape’s oldest town, it is not surprising that Sandwich is bursting with historic sites and museums including the Green Briar Nature Center & Jam Kitchen, the Dexter Grist Mill, the Hoxie House, Heritage Museum and Gardens and the Sandwich Glass Museum.
Sandwich plays host to many pristine sandy beaches. East Sandwich Beach, Sandy Neck Beach, and Town Neck Beach are all conveniently located for fun in the sun and water activities.
If you enjoy the outdoors, you’ll love Sandwich. The Boardwalk is a favorite for visitors and residents alike. The Briar Patch at Green Briar Nature Center features beautiful walking paths and gardens. Shawme-Crowell State Forest offers extensive hiking. The Cape Cod Canal Bike Path is a wonderful stretch for biking, walking, jogging and rollerblading. Watch the boats big and small cruise through the canal.
