Location
Nestled along the banks of the serene Tlell River, surrounded by ancient forest and open sky, Haida House at Tllaal sits on 50 acres of river and ocean frontage, with a fruit orchard, forest trails, carving shed, greenhouses and gardens, and specializes in authentic Indigenous (Haida) cultural adventures. The Haida House lodge offers the ideal setting to explore the many eco-adventures, natural attractions and historical and cultural sites found on Haida Gwaii’s Graham and Moresby Islands.
There are a number of ways of getting to Haida Gwaii. BC Ferries operate a sailing from Prince Rupert to Skidgate (Graham Island) taking 7 hours (overnight to the islands and daytime on the return). There are also two airports; Sandspit which has direct flights from Vancouver with Air Canada Jazz, and Massett which offers flights from Vancouver with Pacific Coastal Airlines, as well as a floatplane service with Inland Air Charters to/from Prince Rupert and other Northern BC locations. The most convenient arrival point for guests staying at Haida House is Masset Airport which is a little under an hours drive. Haida House operate a bus shuttle service, which is included in some hotel packages.
Accommodation
Haida House has a main lodge as well as cabin accommodation. Haida House Lodge has 10 rooms, accommodating up to 22 guests at any time, for an intimate experience. There are twelve new two-bedroom Oceanfront Cabins, offering guests a private, immersive experience, just steps away from the main lodge. Haida-inspired, each accommodates up to four people in a queen bed and double bed configuration. Amenities include a private hot tub, outdoor shower and sweeping views of Graham Island’s picturesque east coast.
Facilities
The casual lodge dining room, specializing in tide- and farm-to-table cuisine, offers a variety of shareable plates, fresh seafood and charbroiled meat dishes, local seasonal vegetables and decadent homemade desserts. The chef draws inspiration from the land, forest and sea to create a regionally-focused menu. A licensed lounge, with a scenic river-view patio, is the perfect place to relax and enjoy an artisan cocktail, glass of award-winning BC wine, or pint of local craft beer.
