Day 2

New Orleans

Sightseeing this morning includes a walking tour of the French Quarter with a local guide. Learn the secrets of Cajun and Creole cuisine at the New Orleans School of Cooking during a private cooking demonstration followed by lunch. Then you’re off to famed Preservation Hall for a Tauck Exclusive private jazz experience and an inside look at Mardi Gras World with a local expert. Dine tonight at a choice of historic restaurants in the French Quarter.

Day 3

Flightseeing over New Orleans

Soar over the city on a flightseeing tour* before a private lecture on the unique geography of New Orleans by Nellie Watson, who is an expert on the interplay of humans, architecture, and the environment. The remainder of the day is free for you to spend time in New Orleans as you please, enjoying the sights, music and cuisine.

Day 4

The Bayou & Gators

Head to the countryside for an alligator bayou tour with a local guide, then take a locally guided tour of Louisiana’s Old State Capitol. Continue on to Nottoway Resort, which is home to one of the South’s largest historic mansions, Mansion House; a guided tour precedes tonight’s mint julep reception and gala dinner featuring live music.

Day 5

Along the River Road

Travel to Houmas House Gardens at the big bend of the Mississippi for a guided tour, lunch, and a walk through the gardens. This afternoon, drive to Whitney Plantation Historic District, the only museum in Louisiana with an exclusive focus on the lives of enslaved people.

Day 6

World War II Museum

Return to New Orleans for a guided visit to the National World War II Museum. Your visit includes a viewing of the award-winning “4-D” multimedia experience Beyond All Boundaries, produced and narrated by Tom Hanks. This afternoon, check into The Ritz-Carlton, New Orleans, ideally located on Canal Street in the French Quarter.

Day 7

New Orleans Garden District

Begin with sightseeing in the Garden District, a National Historic Landmark district. Then, accompanied by a New Orleans resident, take a private streetcar tour along Canal Street and St. Charles Avenue. This afternoon, you’ll have free time for an opportunity to explore the “Crescent City” as you wish. We invite you to join us this evening at a French Quarter institution, Arnaud’s Restaurant, for a farewell jazz reception that is followed by dinner.

Day 8

Journey Home

There’s time for some last minute souvenir shopping before taking your transfer back to the airport for your return flight to the UK.
